Summary


Mobile phone is a long-range, portable electronic device for personal telecommunications over long distances. The mobile phone subscriber in the world was estimated at 2.14 billion in 2005. Nokia is the world's largest manufacturer of mobile telephones. At last week in Mobile World Congress in Barcelona the Nokia chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said that the converged devices are always with the customer and always connected.

Most of the Mobile phones have features beyond sending text messages and voice calls – including Web-browsing, music (MP3) playback, e-mail, camera, Bluetooth, video download, video call, TV streaming and navigational maps.

Recently computing applications and software are also coming into the mobile. This smart mobile are expected to overtake the laptops with in a year and it is completely switch from voice communications device to multimedia computer. According to Nigel Clifford, chief executive of Symbian, the future of the internet or computing applications is not going to be in the home or at the office; it is going to be mobile.
