Gerunds and Infinitives

Cloze Exercise: Gerunds and Infinitives
Yuri was in his first year at university, studying History. He was rather a lazy student, and he tended to avoid (work) working whenever he could. In the middle of the semester, his history professor gave out an assignment, due in two weeks. Yuri intended (do) to do the assignment, but he postponed (write) writing it for a week. The following week, he forgot (do) to do it. The night before the assignment was due, he suddenly remembered it, and rushed to the library. He tried (read) to read as much as possible on the topic, but there wasn't enough time. Yuri considered (ask) asking for more time to do his paper, but the History professor was known to be very tough on students, so finally he decided (cheat) to cheat and copy his paper from somewhere else. He found an old article on the same topic, and quickly typed it out. The next day, he submitted the paper. The following week, he was alarmed (see) to see the professor approaching him, looking angry. "Is this your own work, or did you copy it?" asked the professor. Yuri denied (copy) to copy (Not OK) the paper. "If you expect me (believe) to believe that, you must be very stupid," said the professor. "Every word is taken from an article I wrote myself five years ago. Did you really think I would forget (write) writing it?"

Understading Plagiarism and Referencing

Understanding plagiarism and referencing

I have found one of the most important book which help me to better unstand about the citing referencing and plagiarism. The name of this book is ‘ The complete guide to referencing and avoiding plagiarism’ written by, Neville, Colin.

In college courses, we are continually engaged with other people’s ideas: we read them in texts, hear them in lecture, discuss them in class, and incorporate them into our own writing. As a result, it is very important that we give credit where it is due. Plagiarism is using others’ ideas and words without clearly acknowledging the source of that information.

Plagiarism means:

Copying directly from a text, word-for-word
Using an attractive phrase or sentence you have found somewhere
Using text downloaded from the Internet
Paraphrasing the words of a text very closely
Borrowing statistics from another source or person
Copying from the essays or the notes of another
Downloading or copying pictures, photographs, or diagrams without acknowledging your sources
When we are submitting academic work for assessment, it is important to provide precise bibliographic information on all of the sources consulted during its preparation. The use of proper citation and referencing within our work will help us to avoid plagiarism, and will enable readers to follow our line of research.

A range of referencing styles is used within the University, so it is necessary for us to check with ours university as to which is their preferred style. They may even provide specific guidelines on its interpretation. Once we have established which style we should be using, it is important to be consistent in its application.

Library resources for globalization research

Library resources for globalization research

I have found one of the most valuable globalization subject base books by Metronet online service. The title of this book is ‘Technology, Globalization and Poverty’ written by, Jeffery James. I have found in here about the main theme of ‘Globalization’ and the relationship among the Globalization and Technology. I have found in here how technology has effected positively on the business, job, and social sector. I understand from here how the technology has been making the world more global than previous. I have guided very positively by this book when I wrote down my full essay in my third month pre-sectional course. This book also helps me to better understand about the technological necessity in my native country Bangladesh.

Overview of Your Subject

Overview of Your Subject
I will be studying in Masters of Mobile and Satellite Communication. Mobile Communication and Satellite Communication both are under the Communication technology.

Q:
Why the subject is important, interesting, and relevant for our word?

Ans:
Mobile communication has not covered their network all over the world such as; in the airplane, in the sea. So, now we need satellite communication. How microwave transmit ours voice one place to another place, this interesting and surprising technique we can understand by this course .In 1985, the engineers have made them together and so, these new technological development makes the communication sector very comfortable and easy.
Q:
What is the main branch within subject are and what each is about?
Ans:
Microwave, Analog and Digital data transmit and Electronics.
Microwave explain us how the data transmit, why digital technique more reliable than Analogy technique. Many communication chips are have explained in the Electronics subject.
Q:
What the most important issues are currently in this subject are?
Ans:
To protect the data loss in the international roaming system.
Q:
How you think the subject area will develop over the next few areas?

Live Lecture Summary

Summary (Steve’s Lecture)

The world is facing a enormous crisis, the biggest since the great depression. This situation started in the USA and contagious all the world. The process started in the house market, when the banks lent money for consumers who wanted to have their own house, but could't afford it. These institutions used to sell this debt to other banks, not just in USA, but in all world. When people started default on loans, we run out of money in the market and this situation caused this financial collapse that we are living nowadays. To try to steady the market, the governments put a huge amount of money in this financial instituitions. But the problem still there, we are on a recession.Has globalization caused all this situation? With all this liberalism, this freedom in the market, we have no more rules, no more bounders for goods and financial products. The corporations can do whatever they want to do, for example, they can buy from fabrics in Thailand that pay to their employees less than 2 dollars a day. They make big profits, but encourage poverty and slave work, besides that, normaly they don't care if they are damaging the environment either. In brief, the big corporations are free, they think just about making huge profits, but the world is paying a big price for that. How can we resolve this situation? Is there hope for the planet and humanity?

The Chapter IP security:

Summary:

IP means Internet Protocol. At the current world Microwave needs more security, so we need to apply perfect theory and also the perfect IP. VLAN one of the most important techniques to apply an idle IP addresses. We need to protect the data loss, so we need to learn about frequency which is very important part in IP field.
